Completed delivery of full MEP services for a 132-room boutique beachfront hotel in Barbados, handed over ahead of peak seasonal operations.
Overview
Hotel Indigo Barbados is a 132-room boutique hotel located on a prime beachfront site in Hastings, within the Christ Church district of Barbados, developed with a total project value of approximately USD 100 million.
The project forms part of the global Hotel Indigo brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, bringing a contemporary, design-led hospitality offering to the Caribbean market, with ocean-facing guestrooms and a strong focus on guest experience.
Construction commenced in late 2022 and the project reached completion in Q4 2025, with final handover achieved on Christmas Eve following successful commissioning and operational readiness activities.
Our Scope
Update Group was appointed to deliver the full Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection services for the hotel, supporting a fast-paced programme and high-quality architectural and interior design requirements.
As the project progressed into its final phases, our scope focused heavily on advanced testing, witnessing and commissioning of all MEPF systems, with particular emphasis on life safety, resilience and system integration to ensure a smooth transition to hotel operations.
Close collaboration with the ownership team, operators and local supply chain partners was critical to achieving programme certainty and a successful handover, particularly as FF&E installation and operational readiness activities were carried out in parallel.
