Overview
The Moxy Hotel and Residence Inn Cork is a €40 million dual-brand hospitality development located on Camden Quay, on the former McKenzies Circuit Courthouse site in the heart of Cork city.
The seven-storey building accommodates two Marriott brands operating under one roof, comprising 153 Moxy hotel rooms alongside 41 long-stay suites branded as Residence Inn, providing a mix of short-stay and extended-stay accommodation.
Despite the challenges associated with a dense urban setting, the project was successfully delivered in just 22 months, marking Update Group’s fourth completed project with JMK Group and a further milestone in its ongoing relationship with Marriott International.
Our Scope
Update Group was appointed by Marriott International to deliver the full electrical services for the development, supporting both hotel brands and all shared back-of-house and operational areas.
The city-centre location required detailed planning and coordination to manage interfaces with surrounding residential and commercial properties, as well as busy public streets, while maintaining programme certainty and safety.
Close collaboration with the client, contractor and wider project team was critical to sequencing works efficiently, enabling the electrical installation to progress smoothly within a tight construction programme.
