MEP redesign of the resort core for a landmark mixed-use Mandarin Oriental residential development in Grand Cayman.
Overview
Mandarin Oriental Grand Cayman is a mixed-use luxury resort and residential development and represents the first Caribbean residential offering managed by Mandarin Oriental.
The development is located at St. James Point, one of the highest elevations on the island, offering expansive ocean views and a prominent position within the Grand Cayman hospitality and residential market.
The scheme combines high-end residences with shared resort amenities, requiring a carefully integrated approach to building services design that supports both residential living and five-star hospitality operations.
Our Scope
Update Group was appointed to deliver the MEP redesign of the resort core, covering all public and operational areas of the development while excluding guest rooms and private residential units.
The scope includes the arrivals experience, event centre, restaurants and all shared hotel facilities, requiring close coordination between architectural intent, operational requirements and engineering performance.
The redesign focused on optimising system performance, resilience and efficiency while aligning with Mandarin Oriental brand standards, supporting long-term operational flexibility and an enhanced guest and resident experience.
Redesigning complex MEP systems at the heart of a luxury resort to support shared residential and hospitality operations.
